Sustainable Gardening 101
What’s the latest on sustainable gardening, “seed-to-plate,” and eating locally?  What are the realities of current food production techniques and their impact on the environment?  You will learn the basics of growing your own vegetables and flowers using sustainable gardening techniques plus an overview of the philosophy of sustainable gardening as well as a short history.  We will discuss the fundamentals of soils and compost and how they are the foundation for all healthy gardens.  A summary of composting techniques and systems will be provided.  We will also explain how to handle insects and pests using natural healthy products.  A discussion period will follow.  You will be prepared for your own “seed-to-plate” adventure!
